Joan Marie Brennan Ely “Mom” was born on December 31, 1935 in Chicago and spent many years there until moving to Mexico City as a young girl.

Joan spent many wonderful years in Mexico where she pursued modeling and eventually met her husband Alphe J Lopez “Dad.” Joan and Alphe started their family in Mexico City and returned to Texas to continue to raise their 4 children in the small city of Jersey Village. Joan spent her life dedicated to her children and supported and cheered them through football, dance, drill team, drama team, high school and college events. Throughout her life, Joan’s faith was unwavering as she loved “The Lord” with all her heart and soul and instilled her love for Jesus to her children, grandchildren, friends and strangers.

After early retirement, Joan moved back to her beloved Mexico where she met her second husband Victor Ely in Ajijic and they spent over 20 years traveling between Canada and US as well as cruising through 40+ countries. After her husband’s passing in Canada, she returned to Houston to spend her remaining years with her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joan has touched so many lives with her beautiful spirit and loving kindness and everyone who is blessed to have known Joan, also knows she is dancing with the “Angels in Heaven.”

She is survived by her son Allen Lopez and family, daughter Melissa Januhowski and family, Brother Bernard Brennan and Family, Sister Margaret Morales and Family, Sister Melissa Brennan and Family, Brother David Brennan and Family and her wonderful Grand Children Abbie Williams, Brandywine West Reyes, Vista West, Justin West, Carl West, Cody West, Canaan Lopez, Alyse Lopez and Great Grand children, Nephews, Nieces and Lifelong Friends.

Joan is reunited in Heaven with her daughters Donna Lopez West and Charlotte Lopez, Father Frank Brennan, Mother Margaret Bourget, Brother Edward Brennan, Husbands Alphe J Lopez and Victor Ely, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Loving Friends.
