POLK COUNTY’S Funeral Home SINCE 1936

Our Heritage

Polk County’s Funeral Home Since 1936

Pace Funeral Home was founded in September 1936 by Perry Pace. By 1940 we had built our funeral home on Abbey Street — one of the first facilities in East Texas designed specifically as a funeral home. In 2002 the firm returned to independent local ownership, and in 2004 we opened our current facility to better serve the growing Livingston and Polk County community.

For nearly nine decades, families across Polk County have turned to Pace Funeral Home for care marked by dignity, distinction, and respect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions families ask us most often.

What should I do when a death occurs? +
Call Pace Funeral Home any time, day or night, at 936-967-3711. Our staff will guide you through the first steps, arrange transportation of your loved one into our care, and help you begin making arrangements. If a death occurs at home or in a public place, contact emergency services first; if it occurs in a hospital or care facility, the staff there can help notify us.
How much does a funeral or cremation cost? +
Cost depends on the type of service and the choices a family makes, including burial or cremation, casket or urn, visitation, and memorial options. We provide a clear, itemized general price list so you understand every option with no surprises. Call us at 936-967-3711 for current pricing or to plan a service that fits your family's needs and budget.
What is the difference between burial and cremation? +
Burial usually involves a casket and interment in a cemetery, often with a visitation and funeral service. Cremation offers more flexibility: families may still hold a traditional funeral, a memorial gathering, or a private farewell, and may keep, bury, or scatter the remains. Pace Funeral Home offers both and will gladly explain the options for each.
What is pre-planning, and why should I consider it? +
Pre-planning lets you record your wishes and, if you choose, prepay for funeral or cremation services in advance. It spares your family difficult decisions during a time of grief, locks in today's prices, and ensures your wishes are honored. You can begin pre-planning online or by calling 936-967-3711.
Can we personalize a funeral or memorial service? +
Yes. Every life is unique, and a meaningful service should reflect that. We can incorporate music, photo and video tributes, military honors, religious or cultural traditions, special readings, and personal keepsakes. Our funeral directors will work closely with you to create a fitting tribute.
What services do you offer for veterans? +
We are honored to serve those who served. We help families arrange military honors, coordinate burial in national and state veterans cemeteries, obtain memorial flags and grave markers, and access VA burial benefits. Visit our For Our Veterans page or call us to learn more.
Do you offer grief support after the service? +
Yes. Grief does not end when the service does. We provide grief resources and can connect families with local support groups and counseling, and our team remains available to you long after services conclude.
What communities does Pace Funeral Home serve? +
We proudly serve Livingston and the surrounding communities of Polk County, Texas.
